New Consensus

New Consensus wishes to facilitate critical reflection on our current moment in history. This moment is fascist in a highly specific sense: in it large numbers of social actors from a variety of different social and economic backgrounds misrecognize the sources of their discontent and fetishize elements complicit in their actual domination in ways that are ultimately destructive.
New Consensus takes the mature social theory of Karl Marx, in particular his understanding of the commodity, as its point of departure.
This theory does not specify how or even whether the capitalist social formation will give way to an emancipated and emancipating future. It does offer clues for how we might think about this transition.
